Empowering Grace - A Journey to Active Aging

Our team members bring a wealth of experience in gerontology, community development, financial management, and program coordination, working together to ensure the dignity, independence, and well-being of older persons in Uganda.



Namara Arthur Araali
Cheif Executive Officer

Namara Arthur Araali, a prominent Ugandan Gerontologist and community development expert, has made significant contributions to health education, counseling, and advocacy for the elderly. Holding a Master's degree in Gerontology from the University of Southampton, Araali integrates global and local insights into education and healthcare, with a focus on non-communicable diseases and healthy aging practices.

Saba Zubedda is a dedicated Administrator at Health Nest Uganda (HENU), an indigenous non-profit organization committed to empowering communities and promoting dignity, equality, and independence among individuals, especially the elderly and youth. Under her administration, HENU has reached out to older persons, their families, and communities, addressing health-related problems and other social needs with a vision of creating a proactive and empowered society.

Elizabeth Kaleeba is a distinguished Counsellor and communication specialist with a commendable tenure at The AIDS Support Organization (TASO) in Uganda. Her expertise in counselling is complemented by her role as the secretary to the Board of Health Nest Uganda, an indigenous non-profit organization dedicated to supporting older persons

Supporting Refugees in Gaba Katoogo

On 29th August 2020, the HENU team reached out and supported 100 refugees from the Democratic Republic of Congo and Eritrea with soap, masks, and water purification tablets. These refugees are settled in Gaba Katoogo in Kampala, a wetland area facing floods. While some may argue against supporting those who settled in a swamp, humanitarian response prioritizes saving lives and preventing worsening conditions before assigning blame. These brothers and sisters are in double vulnerability, facing both displacement and environmental hazards.
